I was faced with a dilemma. On the one-hand I wanted to tell my stories, many of them with a lot of human interest. The fact that we had lived and worked through many significant world events generated a lot of interesting stories alone.
On the other hand I wanted to tell many stories related to the history of the Far East Broadcasting Company (FEBC) – simply because there are few of us around who have that history.
The result is an ambitious attempt to appeal to both sets of people – some of whom are long-time friends, family and supporters – as well as colleagues and many who are still interested in missions and the spreading of the good news of God’s Kingdom.
It is written in a somewhat racy style interjected with some deeper issues and matters of historical interest that set the scene for the background. Some of it records a world that is rapidly being lost. The Laos that we visit today is a far cry from the one we encountered fifty years ago. The same can be said of many other countries.
